Vintage, Out-of-Order Interior, Hand-written Menu, No Signage — Uniquely Intriguing

Back in my hometown, things seemed different this time around. I popped into the Lotte Department Store that appeared a few years back to run some errands. It's a massive place, and I couldn't resist picking up a few items while I was there. I enjoy shopping, but I like to keep it quick. Spending hours browsing and buying things on a whim usually leads to regrets, so I try to shop with a purpose.

After snagging some clothes, I checked Google Maps for a cool cafe to hit up. I wasn't in the mood for the generic coffee offered at the department store; it's usually from a big chain. That's when I stumbled upon Cafe Yeonwho, known for its special treat called Boni Jorim – these yummy candied chestnuts. It's just a short walk from Lotte, tucked away in a quiet part of town with vintage furniture, no flashy signs, and no printed menus.

I had a tough choice between coffee and tea, but I decided on a nice, hot tea. They served it in a unique way on a plate with a teapot, so I could pour it into a teacup at my own pace. The hot tea paired perfectly with the Boni Jorim – both were subtle, not overpowering each other with strong flavors. I'm not into teas with strong scents like lavender; I prefer a more mellow taste. The candied chestnuts usually go great with black coffee, but having them with the hot tea at Yeonwho was a must-try.

I kicked back in the cozy cafe, read a book, observed a lazy cat on the floor, and listened to the gentle chatter around me. It was a blissful break in the midst of a hectic day.
