Ethiopia West Arsi Decaf

Von Brown Coffee Blog | Brewing Coffee Archives - Ethiopia West Arsi Decaf

It doesn’t have the weird taste that decaf coffee usually has. It’s actually really good.

Then, I ordered and waited for another pack of these decaf beans from Japan. It's worth waiting more than a week.

While working on my projects at a coffee shop, I often heard people ordering decaf drinks. Some people may prefer coffee with less caffeine or just the taste of it. However, finding decaf coffee that tastes as good as regular takes work. The decaffeination processes include a chemical solvent method, the Swiss water process, the mountain water process., the CO2 method.

Those methods used to remove caffeine from coffee beans can affect their flavor. Also, decaf beans are often roasted differently than regular bans to account for their altered composition, resulting in variations in flavor, body, and acidity. Whatever the reason is, if you're a fan of decaf coffee that doesn't compromise on flavor, Kurasu's Ethiopian decaf might just be your new favorite. It's one of my favorite decaf beans indeed. I was amazed by how good it tasted when I tasted my pourover brewed with these decaf beans. This exceptional decaf comes from the West Arsi region of Ethiopia and has quickly become a customer favorite at Kurasu.

Flavor Profile: Kurasu's Ethiopia decaf boasts a beautifully floral aroma, complemented by the tastes of peach, black cherry, and a hint of citrus. The browned caramel-like sweetness rounds off the flavor with a satisfying aftertaste. This medium roast has a thorough roasting process that enhances its rich flavor profile, making it perfect for both cold brew and pourover.

Ethiopian coffee is renowned for its distinctive and diverse characteristics, providing complex flavor profiles. The Heirloom variety is a treasured selection in Ethiopian coffee culture. Heirloom beans are grown from indigenous plants that have been cultivated for generations. This variety is celebrated for its vibrant acidity and unique taste characteristics, which include floral notes, stone fruits, and subtle spices. It’s a key component of Ethiopia’s rich coffee heritage, contributing to the depth and complexity of Kurasu’s Ethiopian decaf.

The floral notes and fruity flavors of Ethiopia West Arsi Decaf match the high standards set by previous Sidamo decaf offerings. The decaffeination method used is the Mountain Water Process, which effectively removes 97.36% of the caffeine—well above the Japanese standard of 90% for decaf coffee. This water-based treatment preserves the integrity of the beans, ensuring you get all the flavor with none of the caffeine. Kurasu's Ethiopian decaf delivers a rich, satisfying coffee experience that you'll love. Enjoy the nuanced flavors and aromatic profile of this exceptional decaf coffee.
