Turning Leftover Bread into Your New Coffee Break Fav

I have always favored foods with a soft texture over those that are crispy or crunchy. This preference likely stems from watching my mom struggle with dental pain caused by hard foods, which left a lasting impression on me. Chewing on items that resist gives way not only to discomfort but can also lead to damage to our teeth. That’s why I find myself gravitating towards foods that are gentle and tender.

Don’t get me wrong, I get the hype around baguettes. They taste amazing, but man, they’re like jaw workouts. However, a serendipitous moment in the kitchen led to a delightful discovery. Lying on the kitchen table was a baguette that had been sitting there for almost three days, growing increasingly hard and dry. It was then that Sun and I, in search of a perfect snack to accompany our coffee time, decided to get creative.

We took the baguette and gave it a new lease on life by spreading honey and butter over its length before air-frying it for 10 minutes. The transformation was nothing short of magical. The result was a snack that wasn’t overly sweet, perfectly complementing the bitterness of black coffee. It was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, proving once again that sometimes, the most satisfying culinary creations come from the simplest ideas.
